I can't believe nix one has reviewed these nonetheless. Rory's Story Cubes are a fantastic toy/educational activity. Revolve the dice, and invent a story by your peculiar, inspired by the images. Or create a cooperative narrative, with all adding to it. Adjoin competitive elements, epoch limits, or else points for by the most dice in your story. At hand are no confines to by these dice. The more you use them, play with them, and learn from them, the additional thoughts you will have for their manipulate. The dice are too vastly anyway crafted and are a sunny magnitude. You can and get to storycubes dot com to interpret additional thoughts for how to manipulate the cubes, and to recite approximately stories others have come positive with. Kids of all ages can play! Parents, too!

This is one of those games where you utter to yourself, "why in the world didn't I reflect of that?" It is accordingly quite simple: nine dice with different movies on all mug, invent your own narrative, invent your identifiable policy. It is big resting on resourcefulness nonetheless is tiny as much as necessary to acquire wherever. I join in this with my virtually five day older, and what is enormous is that the dice bestow immediately an adequate amount structure for kids to roll with (pun intended) without scripting the outcome. I am reminded of Monty Python's "Meaning of Life" when the couple sits along for dinner and is certain exchange starters. Nevertheless Rory's Cubes really bestow a challenge. Kids have to decide what the pictures are free to require and then link them coherently. And they enjoy seeing what adults do with their rolls. It is a wonderful opportunity to model different narrative techniques. We use these most often when we go out to dinner (hats off to Monty Python) and the kids are impatiently waiting for their food; it is great to be able to take along a tiny game rather than a backpack full of books.

I was tipped off to Rory's Story Cubes from Jenny Williams' June 2010 review on Wired's GeekDad blog (likely the same Jenny Williams who first reviewed this for Amazon). Not long after the blog post, every on-line and brick and mortar means that I possibly will attain sold outdated of the game. Rider you want a different fantastically thorough reassess of the game, it is worth penetrating used for her review.

This is a accurately exceptional toy.

My companion and I "found" this at a regional bookstore, and were immediately amazed by the simplicity of this toy/activity cubes. Near are nine cubes/dice with a different idea by apiece part. You roll every one of them and depending on the nine imagery that extend awake, you invent your inimitable narrative using all of the nine similes. Near are sufficient several combinations to keep you and your family full in support of months/years. The box gives other variations of live this as a multi-player game, where you distribute the dice amongst the players and one player starts a story with the images on the dice he/she has been dealt and the second player continues the story by the dice he/she has been dealt, and hence resting on. Promotes creativity, mind's eye and story-telling. With, every person has a enjoyable time too. I reflect kids can start off enjoying the ready by 3-4 years of age. I can see in your mind's eye the enjoyable our son will have when he his older as much as necessary to play this ready. He is not in spite of that one, on the contrary my wife and I will have the benefit of the game with our siblings and friends pending then.

This will achieve a abundant gift too. You might find it cheaper on your local book/toy store though.

I think the concept of this toy is truly enjoyable, and my kids indeed benefit from it though you need to live organized to explore just about for scattered pieces if you don't have a restricted zone for shooting the birds. I stumble on shooting on a rug before by a table with a tablecloth keeps them from ricocheting all over the room.

First, the good stuff:

PROS: The rules are simple, laid-back to explain to younger brood, and you don't have to get how to recite to figure possessions outdated, hence that's also enormous for insignificant ones.

The birds, pigs, shoot, and the structure pieces all seem appealing strong. Positive my five year old likes to merely fool around with the ready pieces as exploit numbers. We only got this ready as he hunted approximately artificial Fuming Birds to play with and this was the only entity we establish that able-bodied the bill.

The ready builds coordination and (hopefully) a insignificant patience in the finest defense scenario. But that leads me to the cons...

CONS: This is additional a downfall for folks like me who can't endure tiresome projects :) except I get a little frustrated trying to erect the structures revealed by the glassy cards sometimes. They are supposed to be grouped according to difficulty, except a little of the Level 1( ie: allegedly easier) structures are emphatically as hard as the Level 2 and 3 ones. There are some I ponder might be awkward to assemble by all based taking place the law of gravity, even if my husband disagrees and says with sufficient keep upright they're all possible.

I'm style of a fumble-prone mom and I worn-out further time knocking down half-built structures with my clumsy hands than with birds at first. Qualification you have a child who doesn't have a lot tolerance for slow, accurate projects next he/she might be angry wearisome to erect the structures.

As further as the real shooting the birds part of the ready, that takes some receiving worn to and is actually a lot harder than by the Iphone app. in my opinion. To facilitate alleged, it is achievable. My five year older and eight day older are fans of the ready and have by now played with it a lot. Single tip: achieve positively you keep cheery with all the pieces because down steady one or else two of the logs or blocks will seriously debilitate your ability to thorough the structures on the cards.

My six year old son is obsessed with this game. He first started playing on my husband's Droid. I ordered this as a birthday present (it's in November) but ended up giving it to him early. Shipping was fast - received within 3 days of ordering. I got it today and immediately gave it to him and his younger (5 yr old) sister to play with. Set up was easy - within a few minutes - and they have been playing with it ever since. This one is a keeper!

5.0 out of 5 stars Updates about Perplexus construction - Dec 2009, December 13, 2009

Dr. M. (New Fairfield, CT United States) - See all my reviews

= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 not on of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars

First rotten, my whole ancestors loves Perplexus!

I won't drag resting on with a description of the product, as new reviews have made this. But I will offer some updates regarding some of the previous reviewers' concerns about the construction of the toy.

1: The "watermark" stamp seems to have been changed. There still is one, which now reads "Perplexus," but it is not frosted; it is clear like the rest of the ball. Granted, there is some distortion looking through this from some angles, but it does not seem to impeed play.

2: The swing arm on ours works fine.

3: The hemispheres are screwed together tightly and look as though they will hold up to abuse. (But I will admit here that we have only had this toy for 2 days. If it breaks, I'll post a revised review).

4: The numbers along the track are still very difficult to see without very bright light, and even then you may have to tip the toy in a direction you don't want to in order to see the numbers. However, most of the pathways are easy to follow without the numbers, and once you've followed a path, it's unlikely you'll forget the way, so you really only need the numbers once.

Overall: my whole family (including the 5 year old) is in LOVE with this toy. We've had to set up rules about how long anybody gets to play with it, just to make sure the rest of us get our turn. I'm buying several as Christmas presents.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pefect!!!, December 14, 2009

= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars

This review is from: Perplexus Maze Game by PlaSmart, Inc. (Toy)

This toy is great for all ages! My 3 year old is surprisingly VERY interested in it and it's so fun to watch him concentrate! He can easily get all the way past #25 and is getting better every time he plays with it. My husband will sit down with it for easily an hour (unusual for him) to try and conquer the maze. My favorite things about it: 1-when the kids are playing it they are concentrating SO hard that they are quiet and engaged for a LONG time. 2-no batteries required. 3-no annoying noises. 4-anybody can play. It's PERFECT for Doctor visits (who likes to wait at the dr's office with nothing to do?), trips in the car, and just hanging out at home! We keep one in the car (for trips AND when we are somewhere like an event that not everyone is interested in watching) and one at home.

Anytime ANYONE is over at our house and this toy is out, they are completely drawn to it. Adults and kids will pick it up and before too long are so engaged with it that they can't hold a conversation because they are concentrating so much. It is WONDERFUL to see children so focused on something other than a video game!!! Almost everyone who has played with it at my house has purchased one shortly after.

I would DEFINITELY recommend this toy to ANYONE! I'm buying 20 of them--family Christmas gifts and friend's birthday gifts for the upcoming year. I have NO problem with any part of this toy and am 110% satisfied with the durability and quality of this product!!! Whoever came positive with such a toy is genius! The price is vastly low for the enjoyment and enjoyable all will get made known of this product!!!

3.0 made known of 5 stars Perplexus compared to Superplexus and Mysterious Intellect Ball, October 31, 2009

= Durability:3.0 not on of 5 stars  = Fun:3.0 outdated of 5 stars  = Educational:2.0 not on of 5 stars

This reassess is from: Perplexus Maze Game by PlaSmart, Inc. (Toy)

Perplexus is sphere in which you guide a minor silver ball just about an obstacle course. This is an approximately the same imitation of the Superplexus. The Perplexus and Superplexus are both 23 inches approximately. The only differences between they two are that the Superplexus has a wholly fair sphere, digital timer, further safe construction and is a bit heaver. The magic Intellect Ball otherwise Magical Intennect Ball are too similar toys which are 95% the similar as the Perplexus. The differences being that the Magical Balls have a absolutely earn globes, two discrete turns in the course and are only 20 inches around.

Perplexus positives:
The part of the course that is constructed correctly is fun. (All except one piece of the course moving parts in mine.)
Nice Colors.

Perplexus negatives:
The swing limb piece in the average of the second section is poorly constructed. Into organize to compose it swing, the screw is very slack which means that the ball can NOT ooze addicted to the decent categorize. As a result, there is no route to thorough split Two.

Instead of having a earn sphere, approximating Superplexus, Conjuring Intellect Ball and Magic Intennect Ball, Perplexus has a 3 move slowly crossways watermark/stamp that says "Buksi" in the false resting on the highest and underneath of the ball. As looking from beginning to end this watermark/stamp the track the ball follows is fuzzy. Of poorer quality than that having to look in exchange and onward above and over amid the clear and cloudy plastic stamp as I accomplish the maze impart me a immoral headache!!!!!

What a shame they situate that infuriating "Buksi" stamp here. Rider only the globe was entirely net and the swing limb worked it would live a 5 star toy. Finest I can create it is 3 stars and I suggest you procure the Superplexus otherwise Magic Intellect ball in its place since that have every one the best parts of Perplexus with a absolutely Cloudless Globe.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best $22 Toy Still Made!, March 23, 2011

= Durability:4.0 outdated of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 absent of 5 stars

This reassess is from: Syma S107/S107G R/C Helicopter - Yellow (Toy)

I'm a 47-year-old hoodwink who has always loved aviation and RC models. Cars, planes, all. I presently have two further small size rc helicopters that I have enjoyed, excluding they are NOTHING like the Syma S107. Not unchanging local. The thing is, they cost A LOT more.

I distinguish a lot of comments here on the subject of how straightforward this exemplary is to break. The two waterway models I have are much more apt to break as you have very insufficiently manipulation. With the Syma S107, you have Total restrain. Hold you ever seen a dragonfly in departure - stopping and turning by a dime? That's what this helicopter reminds me of.

Right out of the box it is impressive. The quality of construction is magnificent to look by. Rider you've increasingly seen one of the huge rc helicopters that the pros fly, this looks like a scaled timetabled style, with a metal construction and boom tubes immediately approximating the substantial ones. Two single motors operate the main rotors independently. At what time you initiate a become, one rotor spins nearer than the other to create torque, which turns the aircraft. It's the consistent opinion that is used to become valid twin central rotor helicopters comparable the CH-46 Sea Knight and the CH-47 Chinook.

The especially cool part is the tail rotor. It's mounted at 90 degrees to what you're worn to seeing by a helicopter. It blows air up and along, not absent and decent. The tail rotor is what generates ahead and backward movement by raising otherwise lowering the tail, and it is fantastically precise and responsive.

A link of tips if you're new to this type of toy:

1. Later than charging, deposit the helicopter on a clear, cloudless section of floor and turn on the helicopter and remote.
2. Don't touch the right control yoke yet - you don't need it.
3. Hold the throttle yoke in your left hand and the small trim adjuster knob in the right.
4. GRADUALLY move the left yoke forward to increase throttle until the helicopter barely leaves the ground. Watch for left or right rotation and turn the trim knob to make the helicopter hover without rotating. Once it hovers without turning by using only the throttle, you're ready to fly.
5. Get used to the throttle by GRADUALLY increasing and decreasing. The biggest problem is using too much throttle and hitting the ceiling, then the helicopter falls all the way to the floor. That's how they break. If you're careful, you'll be OK.
6. ENJOY. This is the coolest toy I've had in years, and my kids like it so much, I bought another for each of them today.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun toy, too bad I bought it in Tokyo for way more..., December 6, 2010

= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars

This review is from: Syma S107/S107G R/C Helicopter - Yellow (Toy)

This toy is great, even for the big kids to play around with. It's a very durable and easy to use helicopter and requires no previous skills to fly. Best of all, you can charge it using your computer's USB port or the remote controller it comes with. One thing to note is that this toy is IR controlled, not radio controlled. That means that it's more line-of-sight than being able to control it from another room for example. That being said, it will not get interfered with by cordless phones or other radio emitting devices.

You can fly this little guy in a small apartment or a small room and you will have fun doing so. It's great for offices since it's not too loud and again easy to maneuver.

Hope you enjoy it!

This review is from: Syma S107/S107G R/C Helicopter - Yellow (Toy)

I bought this remote proscribed helicopter a few days ago on behalf of my son who is 6. It is a really cool toy. It is amazing to see it fly and maneuver around the house. It charges for about 40 minutes and flies for about 8 minutes on a charge. It requires skill to fly and is actually challenging, which makes it fun and interesting. My son is too young to really play with it properly so we play with it together. It is pretty sturdy, however, you will end up damaging it over time. There is only so many times that you can crash it before it gets damaged. A small piece of decorative plastic cracked from the tail section which I taped back together. I wouldn't count this against the product because I crashed it repeatedly without significantly damaging it. I will probably have to buy some spare parts in the future.

Bottom line - Great, fun, challenging little toy helicopter. Probably the coolest remote controlled toy I have ever bought.
