Wow! I am so glad I purchased this. Soon after reading evaluations on all of the other "laptops" for young children, I decided on this 1 right after thorough analysis. Most complaints with other parents on the other laptops was about the LCD screen being so compact, whilst the screen on this is excellent for its size and intent. I did not have trouble seeing something. So it does not light up, I am thankful, that's one particular much less battery to replace. The other complaint I read about the others is that they were loud. This one is not. My young children playing with their toys does not disturb me even though. If they are mastering interacting with the toy, I am pleased.
A different fun feature on this paticular "laptop" is that it has a operating mouse. You can click to enter move it slightly left or perfect or up down (it is attached to the pad) to get to one other activity or participate in 1 of the thirty plus enjoyable games that offer pre-K mastering Kindergarten learing...locate the shape that is larger, and so on... And yes I played with it to make positive almost everything worked appropriately to see what how it would be teaching my children. It does educate it has been fun for mine. It is a sturdy laptop with much more bang for the buck than the rest of the other "laptops with countless complaints" out there. You will be glad you bought this for your small one particular.
