Solitary is a card game that originated in Australia. In the United States, it is known as "Solitaire" and in British English it is called "Patience". This card game has more than 54 variations. There are also multiplayer solitaire card games.

It is a game usually played with a deck of 52 cards. Solitaire games feature maps on a random bridge in an orderly arrangement on a table. A player tries to reassortment of the bridge by the prosecution and the rank through a series of strokes, transferring cards from one place to another. It is prescribed restrictions that must be followed. All cards of a certain rank form the guidelines on which rest the combinations. Beating proceed until the game is won or some other movement is impossible. This is known as making or breaking the game. Some games allow re-shuffling of the deck or the placement of the cards in a location empty or new.

Solitaire has its own terminology. There are several types of solitaire games, but the hermit of the term is often used to designate the most well known form called "klondike." Other types of solitaire have been adapted in two-player competitive games. As mentioned previously, the solitaire has many variations with one or more playing cards with the rules of varying complexity and skill level. Many of them have been converted into electronic games and are available on computers. There are approximately 150 solitaire card games that have been designed.
